WHAT: A rally to demand state leaders implement an emergency 12-Step Campaign (link to pdf of plan) to end Oregon’s escalating, deadly addiction crisis. Or resign.

WHY: Despite a dramatic increase in alcohol and drug overdose fatalities, Oregon leaders continue to refuse to take responsibility for finding solutions to the addiction crisis. Currently Oregon has the 2^nd highest addiction rate in the country and ranks 50 in access to treatment. Since the start of the pandemic,

• alcohol related deaths have increased 73%
• drug overdose fatalities have increased 38%
• available adult residential treatment beds have declined 43%
• available adolescent residential treatment beds have declined 69%
• available detox beds have declined 45%
• $270 million of recovery support funding has been delayed until October
• A public education campaign to reduce harmful alcohol consumption has been delayed indefinitely
• No public education has been launched to prevent fentanyl poisoning and Narcan remains unavailable in most schools

It’s time to tell our leaders: “Take Action or Resign!”

WHO: You! And hundreds of people in recovery, their friends and family and the people who work every day to end the crisis. Politicians respond to pressure. Those suffering from addiction and desperately needing access to services need you to turnout and rally to demand action. Its time to say: enough is enough.

BRING: Bring a picture of a person you lost to addiction, a sign demanding action and/or a raincoat. AND BRING A FRIEND.
